A hilarious and moving exploration of the enduring appeal of murder mysteries.

Tim Benzie, the acclaimed creator and host of Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote performs his now one-man show, a funny and engrossing deep dive into the appeal of murder mysteries.

The audience are summoned to the drawing room as Tim takes on the role of detective, examining the clues that drew him to the genre as a child, a journey from Scooby Doo and Encyclopedia Brown, to German mystery-puzzle books via reading the entire works of Agatha Christie as a teenager. Along the way he draws connections between obsessions with detective films, the TV series Murder, She Wrote, his role as Detective Tim for Disney TV and his current Solve-Along show.

Funny, touching and showcasing the delight in pop culture minutiae that has made Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote a cult hit, It’s a Mystery will appeal to fans of the genre and anyone who’s ever wondered whodunnit (and why).

“Benzie is a great host. His enthusiasm for this genre is immediately apparent and his journey through the topic, heartfelt … This is a great insight, lots of fun and a joyful production at this year's Fringe. A killer of a show!” ★★★★★ WEST END BEST FRIEND

Frankie Howerd was one of Britain’s most loved comedians for half a century. But he had a secret. And the secret’s name was Dennis.

This hugely acclaimed play by Mark Farrelly (Quentin Crisp: Naked Hope) takes you to the heart of Frankie and Dennis' clandestine relationship, which lasted from the 1950s until Frankie’s death in 1992. It also affords a glorious opportunity to encounter Frankie in full-flight stand up mode.

Packed with laughter, but unafraid of truth, Howerd’s End portrays two humans' journey through closeness, love, grief and all the other things that make life worth living. Come and say farewell to a legend… and learn the art of letting go.

Two spine-chillers by M R James, the master of the English Ghost Story, performed in candlelight by Farsley favourite Robert Lloyd Parry of Nunkie Theatre, who appeared as the author in Mark Gatiss’s BBC2 Documentary ‘M R James: Ghost Writer.’

In "Casting the Runes" we meet the unforgettable ‘Abbot of Lufford, ’ Mr. Karswell – magic lanternist, historian of the occult, and scourge of the academic establishment. The story is perhaps best known for being the source for the classic 1950s horror film ‘Night of the Demon.’

It is partnered here by one of James’s most neglected masterpieces: "The Residence at Whitminster", in which a dark shadow is cast over the precinct of a peaceful English church…

Montague Rhodes James [1862 – 1936] wrote his ghost stories to perform to friends in the years leading up to WW1. Today they have lost nothing of their power to terrify and amuse. Nunkie Theatre Company returns with two more of James’s very best, in another thrilling one-man show.

“Storytelling at its best" - THE STAGE
