Jah Wobble & The Invaders Of the Heart

The Old Woollen, Sunny Bank Mills, 83- 85 Town Street, Farsley, Leeds, LS28 5UJ

£20 + Booking Fee. Doors 7pm. Show Starts 8pm.

Born John Wardle, the nickname was given to him by Sid Vicious following an evening of drunken antics. Sid Vicious then went on to give Jah his first ever bass guitar. As a bassist, Jah Wobble is well known as one of the founding members and ultimately the back bone of the legendary Public Image Limited (PiL) during the early years. Whilst working with John Lyndon, Keith Levene and Jim Walker, Jah’s notoriously powerful low end bass created PiL’s debut album Public Image: First Issue, which included the band’s first Top 10 single as well as their prestigious second album Metal Box, which included the post-punk classic Death Disco.

Since departing with PiL, Jah Wobble is now a prevalent solo artist with his band, Invaders of the Heart and was nominated for a Mercury Music Prize for his debut album, Rising Above Bedlam. Following the release of the highly acclaimed second album, Take Me To God, Jah Wobble also became a successful entrepreneur by developing his own independent record label, 30 Hertz Records. Additionally, Jah Wobble has worked with the likes of Primal Scream, Dolores O’Riordan, Sinead O’Connor, Chaka Demus & Pliers, Bill Laswell, Holger Czukay and many more.

£27.50+Booking Fee

Bossa Nova = Nouvelle Vague = New Wave. This transliteration was the starting point for Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux’s unique project, which, by appropriating the punk and post-punk cannon and running it through the Bossa Nova filter, reinvented the cover band genre.

The group’s first two albums, 'Nouvelle Vague' (2004) and 'Bande A Part' (2006) defined their unique sound with Bossa versions of New Wave Classics. Their third album 'NV3' (2009) featured collaborations with Depeche Mode's Martin Gore, Ian McCullouch from Echo and the Bunnymen, and Terry Hall from The Specials.

Simon Yates: My Mountain Life

The Old Woollen, Sunny Bank Mills, 83- 85 Town Street, Farsley, Leeds, LS28 5UJ

£13 + Booking Fee. Doors 7pm. Show 8pm. Cabaret Seating.

One of the most accomplished exploratory mountaineers of all time. Simon Yates is best known for his role in the harrowing expedition to the Andes documented in Joe Simpson’s bestseller ‘Touching The Void’, later made into a film and stage play.

On the remote Siula Grande in Peru in June 1985, mountaineer Simon Yates found himself in a desperately unenviable position. He was slowly being pulled off the mountain face by his injured partner, Joe Simpson, dangling on the rope 50 metres below. His decision to cut the rope saved both their lives in the epic of survival that followed.

Following that experience in Peru, Simon has been increasingly drawn to places where few others have trod. This illustrated lecture features spectacular images and film of the most remote and rarely explored mountain ranges of the world from the Arctic to the Antarctic and Alaska to Central Asia - there is hardly a significant range that Simon has not visited.

Wolfgang Flür - Magazine Tour

The Old Woollen, Sunny Bank Mills, 83- 85 Town Street, Farsley, Leeds, LS28 5UJ

£17.50 + Booking Fee. Doors 7pm.

A member of Kraftwerk during the group’s golden era, Wolfgang Flür was the band’s electronic percussionist from 1973 to 1987.

The show includes mind-bending visuals and Kraftwerk masterpieces such as ‘It’s More Fun To Compute’, ‘Pocket Calculator’, ‘Neon Lights’, and ‘Cover Girl’, which was a sequel to Kraftwerk’s number one hit ‘The Model’. It also features tracks from his band Yamo (a collaboration with Mouse on Mars) and latest releases such as ‘Eloquence’.

Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Flür became the third member of Kraftwerk in 1973, replacing a drum machine. He was a member of the group from their international breakthrough with the album Autobahn (1974) and remained as they experimented with proto-techno on albums such as Trans-Europe Express (1977) and Computer World (1981).

Frustrated with the half-a-decade it took to produce Electric Cafe (1986), he left the band after the LP’s release. In 1997, he launched his solo career under the name Yamo and released Time Pie, an album that featured work with the experimental duo Mouse on Mars.

Support - Pete Duggal.
