Presented by Truman Books, this is an evening with British journalist, broadcaster and author Tim Marshall. Tim will be talking about his latest book, The Future of Geography.

If you’ve ever wondered if humans are going back to the Moon, who will benefit from explorations, will Musk and Bezos’ space race ambitions ever come to fruition, the answers are here.

Space is the new frontier, a wild and lawless place. It is already central to communication, military strategy and international relations on Earth. Now, it is the latest arena for human exploration, exploitation – and, possibly, conquest. With China, the USA and Russia leading the way, the next fifty years will change the face of global politics.

With all the insight and wit that have made Tim Marshall the UK’s most popular writer on geopolitics, this gripping book shows that politics and geography are as important in the skies as on the ground, covering great-power rivalry; technology; commerce; combat in space; and what it all means for us down on Earth.

Tim Marshall is a leading authority on foreign affairs with more than 30 years of reporting experience. He as diplomatic editor at Sky News, and before that was working for the BBC and LBC/IRN radio. He has reported from 40 countries and covered conflicts in Croatia, Bosnia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Israel. He is the author of the No. 1 Sunday Times bestsellers Prisoners of Geography: Ten Maps that Tell You Everything You Need to Know About Global Politics (which has sold over 2 million copies worldwide) and The Power of Geography: Ten Maps that Reveal the Future of Our World.

Entry Only £14. Entry + Book £22. Doors 7pm. Starts 8pm. Unreserved Seating.

Hot on the heels of Connor’s outstanding 2023 Edinburgh Fringe season don’t miss Scotland’s fastest rising comedy star’s brilliant new show - on tour!

Connor has also sold-out multiple solo shows across Australia, in 2022 touring Down Under an unprecedented three times in the same year. In addition to his own tour shows, he supported international stand-up tour ‘Daniel Sloss: CAN’T’ (opening for Daniel in huge theatres) and closed the Sydney Comedy Festival gala at the Sydney Opera House.

VERTIGO is a punchline-packed show featuring ugly dogs, relationships and the inevitable family drama. Hilarious, relatable, a bit rude in places of course and all-the-while served up with superb material, brilliant delivery and proper belly laughs.

This is Connor's first UK tour and we are delighted to welcome him to The Old Woollen. If you love live comedy, then we recommend you check out this fantastic show. Support an exciting comedian and budding superstar early days - and remember where you saw him first!

‘There is a great comedy talent at work here. The material is packed in like chips in a poke and Burns himself is genuinely likeable, with that straightforward delivery that reassures you there is a real person up there and that he is a great bloke… There is nothing he sets his comedic sights on that he misses… he is fearless and it is wonderful… hilarious!’ THE SCOTSMAN ★★★★★

From the award-winning creators of Austen’s Women, A Christmas Carol, I, Elizabeth, Female Gothic, Christmas Gothic, and A Room of One’s Own.

Austen’s Women are back - in a brand-new show! Devil-may-care Lady Susan, the coquettish black widow, hunting down not one, but two, fortunes; oppressed, rebellious daughter Frederica; long-suffering sister-in-law Catherine; family matriarch Mrs De Courcy; and insouciant best friend, Alicia.

Return to the Regency (or rather, Georgian) in this darkly comic tale of society and the women trapped within it; their struggles, their desires, their temptations and manipulations - and at the vanguard, Lady Susan: charming, scheming, witty, and powerful; taking on society and making it her own. But has she met her match?

Based on Jane Austen’s first full-length work from 1794, and created entirely from letters, the piece is performed by Rebecca Vaughan and directed by Andrew Margerison.

Created in collaboration with The Old Town Hall, Hemel Hempstead.

Praise for Dyad Productions:

★★★★★ ‘Quite simply: astounding’ (Broadway Baby)

★★★★★ ’Outstanding…gripping… Vaughan is never less than magnetic’ (Three Weeks)
